Thanks for commenting Brenda, so much wisdom and insight into what you add to the discussion. It does take practiced skills to be open and help people transform and it is truly a beautiful thing to do for someone. Plus you can learn so much!

Yay! Confronting someone's reality with my version of their reality is ineffective and most likely harmful. I get that a lot and it immediately gets my heels digging in. Not only has the communication stopped abruptly, I am making my mental notes and they're usually mean and sarcastic. No one truly knows someone's experiences or perceptions. Actually, running your own perceptions and experiences to the bank can leave you with an overdrawn account. A wise guy once told me, "Things are not necessarily what they seem to be." Those are words to live by. When someone share's their truth, listen and try to stay present. Then you have been a healing force in the world. We need not run around arrogantly pretending to have all the answers because truly, no one does. People grow and change when they can. People need safety and understanding from others before anything transformative can happen. Sounds so easy but takes skills. Try it, just put yourself to the side and give another human your undivided attention with no agenda, no bias, no answers, just open up and listen. You might surprise yourself and make the world a better place.
